Mango Dal

Aah the simple dals can also be the star of a meal. I made this simple dal like mom makes for a lunch with the girl friends at work 🙂

Mango Dal

Ingredients
  • 10 1 cups dal Dhuli Masoor [ Pink , wash and soak for min .
  • 3/4 cup mango aam chopped raw / kaccha .
  • 1 tsp Jeera . .
  • pinch heeng .
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder .
  • 2 chillies . dried red .
  • 1 tbsp Ghee / oil . .
  • 2 cups water .
  • Salt chilly . and red powder

  • 1 tsp Jeera . .
  • pinch heeng .
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder .
  • 2 chillies . dried red .
  • 1 tbsp Ghee / oil . .
  • 2 cups water .
  • Salt chilly . and red powder
Instructions
  1. Pressure cook the dal with water and turmeric. [2 whistles is fine.]
  2. In a pan, heat the ghee/oil and add the jeers and red chillies.
  3. Once the jeers changes color, add the red chilly powder and the mangoes.
  4. Add a little water and cook until the mango is cooked through.
  5. Now add the dal and salt.
  6. Cook until the masalas and dal have mixed properly.
  7. Server with rice or chapati of your choice.
